"life-threatening historical finds – unexploded ordnance"
Countless unexploded bombs lie undetected beneath our streets, houses and parks. The Planet Wissen broadcast on the German TV channel WDR informs viewers on how to identify dangerous areas and how the population is protected.
Although the Second World War has been over for around 75 years, unexploded explosive devices are still lying dormant below the surface. The ordnance clearers are accompanied by the WDR in delicate situations, the evacuation and defusing of unexploded ordnance are part of their work.
The search for the duds has to stand at the beginning of every mission. The ordnance disposal service uses magnetometer, which provide reliable services in the detection of large ferrous content and therefore UXO. Starting at minute 45 you can see the historic but still fully functional EL 1302A by VALLON. The entire video can be viewed at planet-wissen.de.
