VALLON News VALLON Workshop ASIA 2023 in Cambodia

Regional expertise connects: the first VALLON Workshop ASIA

The premiere of the VALLON Workshop ASIA from April 25 to 27, 2023 in Siem Reap enabled a direct exchange between experts from the ASEAN region. In cooperation with the Cambodian Mine Action Authority (C.M.A.A), more than 50 participants discussed practical approaches to explosive ordnance clearance in Southeast Asia.

Regional cooperation

The three-day event strengthened the professional dialog in the ASEAN region. Participants from Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam shared their experiences and developed joint perspectives for explosive ordnance disposal.

Technical exchange of experience

The workshop enabled a practice-oriented transfer of knowledge:

  • Cambodian Self Help Demining (CSHD) presented experiences from local mine clearance
  • The Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) shared insights from cross-border projects
  • The National Centre of Peacekeeping Forces (NPMEC) reported on military-civilian cooperation

Outlook

The workshop marks an important step for cooperation in the ASEAN region. The direct exchange with regional partners enables the continuous adaptation of technologies and methods to local requirements. These findings are incorporated into the further development of the detection systems.
