Together for a secure Ukraine – VALLON at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024
The numbers are sobering: almost a quarter of Ukraine is affected by landmines and unexploded ordnance. This invisible danger not only massively hinders reconstruction, but also threatens human lives every day. At the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin, mine clearance was therefore at the top of the agenda – and VALLON was there.
Focus on international cooperation
“Together we can make a difference” – these words from Dr. Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, perfectly underscore what is at stake. At the session on humanitarian demining, we discussed concrete solutions to this enormous challenge with Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, and other experts.
Top political priority
The urgency of the topic was also evident in the opening speeches. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of international cooperation for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Overcoming the challenge together
For us at VALLON, one thing is clear: mine clearance is the first essential step for a safe return of people to their homes. With our proven metal detectors and magnetometers, we support the teams on the ground in their vital work. The URC2024 has once again shown that Only through close cooperation between all parties involved - from governments to international organizations to specialized companies - can we overcome this challenge.
The conference makes it clear: Reliable detection technology is an important building block for security in crisis regions. We will continue to work on this.
